ArchivesArchivists: Sr Bernadette Mary Wrack and Sr Josephine Gorman The Archives of the Sisters of Compassion is situated at 2 Rhine Street, (off Murray Street) Island Bay, Wellington. You can get to us by bus on the No. 1 route from the Railway Station. Our facility is with our congregational General Administration. The building we are housed in is attached to the Home of Compassion. The purpose of the Archives is:to preserve the spirit and memory of Suzanne Aubert, the Foundress of the Daughters of Our Lady of Compassion. to collect, manage, preserve and deposit the records of historical and intrinsic value created by the Congregation, its officials and branches, to provide access to the records and archives for its members, and for approved members of the public. in addition, the archives are intended to serve as a resource for promoting the Congregation, and enhancing appreciation of its historical and contemporary role in the heritage of Aotearoa/ New Zealand.

by early Sisters Memorabilia relating to Suzanne Aubert – Mother Mary Joseph Aubert – is on display, as well as photographs of the works done by the Sisters since the foundation of the Congregation in 1892. By using the following link to National Register of Archives and Manuscripts (NRAM) you will find a good description of what we are holding in the Archives. Schools who are working on a project about Suzanne Aubert will find material on our website, but they may also arrange to visit our Archives. The Archives are open during the week from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Please make an appointment beforehand so that there will be someone available to attend. It would be appreciated if researchers gave some indication of their interest.
