Vision and Mission StatementBackgroundAs Sisters of Compassion in Fiji we belong to a rich and diverse culture. As a group we are called to exercise and to continue to hand on to others the unique gift of sharing in Christ’s healing ministry of compassion. Our presence and work is aimed at the restoration of life and love. We do this joyfully, in loving sacrifice for broken humanity. Our life in the community, and our finding God in the ordinariness of the human journey is what strengthens us for this task. As prophetic women of Fiji we hear the call of compassion as we enter a new millennium. As indigenous women of the Pacific we are integrally linked to our land, as it is from here that we receive our identity. We journey into a new century of healing as women born of this land. In the merging of our two deep stories (Sisters of Compassion and Fiji Islanders) we discern and find the God who calls us forwards into a new era of healing. Wailoku Assembly of the Sisters of Compassion, Fiji, August 1998 In 2002, the Sisters wrote the following: Vision Statement"We the Daughters of Our Lady of Compassion in Fiji - are challenged to respond to the needs of our time with courage, hope and joy so as to realise the Compassion of God". Mission Statement"We...are committed to the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, in the spirit of Suzanne Aubert". |
