Situated on St. John’s Hill, the Home overlooks the Whanganui River and Wanganui city. Suzanne Aubert and the Sisters of Compassion began a unique quality care here, which continues today.

WanganuiOur mission is to care for the elderly, the sick and the dying in a very personal way.

As well as Rest Home and Hospital Continuing Care, we offer Respite Care for those recovering from Hospitalisation, and Carer Relief (DHB funded). We also welcome enquiries from those who live alone, but at times wish for some Respite care.Wanganui

  • We deliver high quality care in a homely atmosphere, meeting physical, spiritual and cultural needs a resident may have.

  • We have:

  • 31 rest home beds, mostly in single rooms, 14 having en-suites.

  • 28 Hospital continuing care beds, again mostly single rooms.

  • Access is available to all Allied Health Services.

  • Residents can keep their own Doctors who will visit on a regular basis.

  • Family and friends are encouraged to visit frequently.

  • Regular chapel services for all denominations are held.

  • A van with hoist for outings.

  • A full recreational programme.

The Aubert Home of Compassion have refurbished and converted what was the Convent on the grounds of the Home of Compassion, Wanganui to used as a short stay facility.
