June 2008
I have been reflecting on this quote of Suzanne Aubert about kindness: she says “Above all things let us be kind, kindness is what most resembles God.” In life we are not very often asked to do heroic deeds but kindness is something we can practise every day and often many times in the day.

There are always two people involved in an act of kindness the giver and the receiver; both are equally important. The giver of an act of kindness feels good for a short period of time but the one who receives the kind act could remember it for a life time; the smallest acts can have life-changing qualities about them.

We can understand our friends being kind but what gives us the biggest buzz is when complete strangers help us on our journey with unexpected kind deeds. Many times I have prayed a blessing on a person who gives way to me in a heavy flow of traffic, especially when there is no hope of getting to the next appointment on time. I believe I can share the many acts of kindness through the God who lives within me and I am re-energised by the many acts of kindness I receive each day. This enables me to live a healthy and holy life. I thank all our friends and benefactors for their kindness to the Sisters which flows on to the people that we meet. I pray with gratitude the prayer Suzanne Aubert loved to pray –“Thanks be to God for all he has done and is doing for us.” Thank you for your support and encouragement.
