Around 100 people gathered at the Chapel at Our Lady’s Home of Compassion to celebrate the birthday of Venerable Suzanne Aubert, born on 19 June, 1835 in St Symphorien-de-Lay, near Lyon, France.
The Mass was celebrated by Father James Lyons, with musical support from Father Chris Skinner. Students from St Patrick’s College and St Anne’s School contributed through readings, prayers, and song, helping to shape the celebration.

After the final hymn, the community enjoyed cake and coffee. Sister Margaret Anne noted that “Suzanne would have been 191 today” — a reminder of the remarkable legacy that continues to inspire the Sisters of Compassion and our friends across Aotearoa.
